Chemical Free Mopping
Who likes to mop? Definitely not me... in fact, I avoid housework like the plague. I mean, I don't have roaches or anything, but I'm not going to win any awards either. However, as much as I hate housework - I hate filling my home with chemicals even more. This led me to procrastinate things like mopping even more than I already did! (and that's saying something)
Thankfully I found an alternative mopping solution that I like. I know that you can just mop with hot water, but sometimes (especially in the winter) I like to know that the germs are being taken care of. What I do is mix some of Dr. Bronner's Sal's Suds with either tea tree oil or peppermint oil (it doesn't take much of either if you're using pure oil, just a few drops) and put it into a sinkfull of hot water (I use my sink, you could use a bucket or whatever :-)).
Both tea tree oil and peppermint oil exhibit antibacterial properties, and tea tree oil has also been reported as an antiviral. That makes me feel very good about the cleanliness of my floors.
Happy mopping, ha ha...
